We've got a date for Saturday with a photographer friend, Carlos Dias. We are all going to São Pedro de Corval to do a photo session, weather permitting. He is a Portuguese photographer and does mostly nature photos and has a great website. Here is the address, visit his site. http://www.carlosdias.net/
We don't just want to promote pottery we want to promote a place that is dear to our hearts. Pottery has been made in São Pedro de Corval for thousands of years and all by hand. Just now in recent years in an attempt to keep up with cheap industrial made pottery from other countries and plastic, some of the potters have also begun making some pieces industrially. We hope that our project will help prevent that from happening with all of them. Hopefully Carlos, the photographer, can some how capture the care that goes into each piece and the inspiration that the potters and painters find in the surrounding area.
We are also going to buy lots of pottery and we are going to look for a special kind that is all cream and terracotta colored, very chic. We want to take some really large striking pieces with us to the US and also some pieces that everyone will want, like mugs and small appetizer dishes. These pieces should be accessible price-wise for everyone, they should help spread the word about the project. The larger pieces are what we hope will bring prestige to the project.
Well that is all for today. I have already started worrying about shipping again and hoping that besides pottery we can promote some other really gorgeous Portuguese hand crafts. Day three and I am already out of control.
