Day 7-pottery perfect

Yesterday was a great day. We left in the morning with all the rally cars; The Lisbon-Dakar rally started yesterday. There was quite a bit of fog and we were worried that our photo session attempt would be futile. However, by lunch time the fog had lifted and Carlos had managed to take great indoor photos. We spent the morning in the Cristo pottery, and enjoyed their hospitality and professionalism. They have experience shipping and have gorgeous pieces. We really appreciated their craftsmanship after we had visited some others as well-always is good to compare. I think in total we visited 5 potters and one crafts association near by. We really liked two other places but there are still more to see.

We talked to the potential suppliers about their experience shipping pottery and several of them were quite experienced and helped us to understand what was the best way to package and ship. We also decided on pieces that we wanted to start out with, a 40 cm platter and a 50 cm platter if I am not mistaken. We also discovered a great appetizer tray. We really are focusing on flatter pieces in the beginning because they are the easiest to ship, you just line up a load of plates with bubble wrap and voila. Otherwise you end up filling up a box with mugs or pitchers and loose lots of space because of their shapes. We more or less defined different collections that we will start with as well.

Other than visiting the potteries we visited the town as well. A funny little place that seems like a one road town, not really so picturesque, but after strolling around all day down little side streets and out in the countryside a bit, I decided that is was a charming little place. Friendly, and approachable. Not picture perfect but real. I suppose that having a photographer with you helps you see the beauty in unexpected places.
